Boring, Boring, Boring.
A young she-cheetah lay in the shade of a large Sausage Tree, gazing up at the long, green, sausage-like pods which hung from the African foliage. The wind barely blew, yet as the light zephyr brushed against the many branches and seed-carriers, a quiet rustle spread throughout the ancient boughs. Inside the green pods which hung down, a few of the loose seeds clicked together, a sweet chiming drifting into the sky. It was quite pretty, actually...the massive tree so ancient yet it's pods so new. A miracle of life indeed.

The three-year-old big cat appreciated Mother Nature's gift of this tree, it gave her shade to cool in on this hot day. Yet the tree was not the only one of nature's magnificent creations...there was also the beautiful cheetah in the shade of it, a small herd of zebra standing in the distance, a wary rabbit nibbling on some shoots, and a couple of giraffes plucking leaves off of an Acacia. The cheetah was of average length, her muscles well-defined and small ears pointing forward as she listened to the sounds of the world. Birds chirped and sang, grass rustled, pods clinked together...it was amazing. The sound of earth was a melody all itself, a soothing sound brought to the cat's thorns. The female's pelt was stained in a deep gold color, ebony spots speckling her coat in all areas and black lines running from her eyes down her cheeks. Striped tail was as long as the damsel was tall, it's end barely brushing the ground as she stood. A cheetah...one of God's most beautiful creations.

Her name was Gratis...the Swahili word for 'truth'. It was a nice dubbance, a name fitting well for the spotted big cat. Gratis was very peaceful, she loved nature and hated the feuds that haunted her kin and that of the lions. Why couldn't the two species just get along? Why did they detest each other so much...when they both had so much in common? Lions were cheetahs who were larger and had no spots...there was no difference other than that! Yes, male lions had manes...but that is unimportant.

Sighing, the female stood up, eyes taking in the sight before her...the beautiful cliffs of this land. She stood on a smaller part of the Great Cliffs, only about one eighth of the way up. But there was a bit of flat-land here, and she really didn't want to climb the whole mountain. gratis only came here to get away from the conflict between lion and cheetah for a while...and to practice her element without disturbance. besides a few puddles laying around her, Gratis wasn't really having much success.

A strong wind rustled some of the trees on the cliffs. Sarge had just turned a corner and climbed a staircase of disapearing ringlets. He spotted another of his kind. The cheetah approched, sending a cold breeze to help him jump onto the small flat platform the she-cheetah was on. "G'day. I'm Sarge. And you?" His pale coat made him look almost silver. Sarge stopped the breeze and let the sun heat him up a bit.
