The moon was full and bright, looking back at it's large, luminous self in the once blue water which had been turned black by the night time. An eerie silence seemed to blanket the lake and the surrounding area, calm and serene. The night was a break from the war for all the lions, but usually only the peaceful ones, who's personalities made them against fighting. Nobody would expect to find a tough, proud, reckless lion like Horizon hanging around at night, sighing with relief at the peace. He loved to fight, why was he happy that he wasn't? Truth was, Horizon fought for fun. In his own words, 'I don't play for keeps.' As soon as killing, and real hatred came into play, fighting wasn't a game anymore. He was so young, and he had already seen so many lions die. Staring soulfully into the waters of the lake, he saw himself.
Himself. It was a strange thing, he knew that when others looked at him, they didn't see the same thing he saw. He saw insecurity, and a lion who just wasn't sure about what he was doing, and whether he should fight with his tribe and kill the cheetahs, for who knows what reason. But he knew when his tribe mates looked at him they saw a proud, arrogant hotheaded lion who wouldn't give up a chance to fight with a cheetah for anything. He shook his head. Thanks to his tough-guy act, he was going to be expected to do things he didn't want to do; kill. He could kill prey without a second thought, and he could bring down a traitor (or at least try to) without hesitation, but that was when he knew what he was fighting for. If someone would explain what the hatred was about, maybe he would fight the cheetahs with everything he had. But he just couldn't do it without a good reason.

"Youngling, you seem troubled. What is the matter?" From out of the darkness emerged a lionness. She did not seem old enough to call anyone 'youngling', but it was in her nature, and her words were kind and patient. Almost motherly in tone. Almost. Behind every word she spoke was the hint of confidence, humour and only a touch of pride. Yes, she could be motherly if the occassion called for it, but her actions depended entirely on the 'cub' she was speaking with. Her fur was a pale gold and it seemed to shine in the moonlight. This only emphasized her every movement as gracfeul and sure, as though she was following a set path.
Amadi never believed that things happened for a reason, unless that reason was visible and understandable. Merely explaining something by saying that it must have happened for a reason seemed stupid to her. Thus she never hesitated to do what she saw as right, hesitation could only cause further specualtion. She disliked thinking upon one subject overly long, unless the thoughts, or conversation, was interesting. That being said, she stepped along, following fate, without hesitation to the edge of the water, and crouched for a drink. Lifting her head, so her chin was parallel with the surface of the water to look once again at Horizon, questions in her eyes.

Rosalie walked over to the group. This young Lioness walked up to them. She had no pride right now, and knew what would happen if she ran away from this beautiful place, back to the even more beautiful land she used to call home. She shook these thoughts out of her head. The scar was the only thing left of her old pride. That scar she got, from the male leader, on her left eye. "Hello." She slowly said to announce herself. "You don't mind if I'm here do you?"

He was startled by the intrusion. So startled, in fact, that he almost fell into the water of the lake. He threw his strong front legs in front of him to stop from falling face first, and as a result his reflection was shatter, water droplets flew through the air and clung to his fur, and the lower part of his front was drenched. He quickly jumped out of the water and spun, searching for the interruption. Seeing that it was a lioness from the pride, he loosened up. He knew who she was, he had seen her around. But he had never talked to her. It was a big territory, you couldn't be expected to know personally every member. Unless of course you were the lead lion. Horizon's eyes looked the femme over uncertainly. He wasn't sure if he should tell her the trut or not. So he decided to buy some time. “Who are you calling youngling? Your not that much older than me, are you?” He replied. The good humour in his voice revealed that he was not actually angry. It was a time of peace for him; had this been the daytime, he would have had to have acted angry for his friends. But now he was alone with her, and didn't want to cause any trouble.
Having finally made up his mind, his decision being to tell her what was really wrong, he opened his mouth to explain. But another intruder stopped him. This lion he did not know, and by the smell of her she was not actually a member of their pride. Instinctively, Horizon moved over to the lioness, in case of trouble. But it was probably unneccessary; what was a lone lioness going to do to hurt either of them? Well, probably nothing, but Horizon had been taught to be wary of strangers. She may have looked like one, but there could have been a whole other pride of lions hiding there with her in the darkness. He glanced at the lioness, who was older and more experienced, and he knew it. Like in the case of being called 'youngling', in the day surrounded by other young male lions Horizon would have been arrogant towards the newcomer, but again, he didn't really want any trouble right now.

He didn't answer, and she waited. After a spell she reasked. "Do you mind if I'm here. I'm alone, for my pride had kicked me out of it a year ago and that's how I got this scar on my face." She told him. "I wish to know if you had any objections to me being here."

ooc- just going to backpedal a little, os that Amadi can reply to Horizon...
She pulled her lips back in silent laughter at his surprise, but did not say anything to him, nor did she tease him, for such was the serenity and peace of the cool night air, that she felt no need to break it with his angered comments. Amadi had seen Horizon before, and knew that right now he was acting completely different than he normally did, and quickly figured the influence of other males had a bit to do with it. Personally, she liked this lion better than the one she had seen when the sun was high. She smiled at his words and nodded in slight apology. "Sorry, hun, and you're right." She finished quickly as he seemed about to say something, and after noting the hesitation she knew it would be important. He had looked troubled when she first saw him that night, and she wished to know what it was. However, he was interupted by another lionness who seemed polite enough in her own way.
Swiftly scenting the air to be sure that Rosalie did not bring others with her, Amadi looked at the newcomer. There was a kind aura about her, but underneath there was something hard that Amadi could not quite make out. Perhaps it was only the scar that made her think that. When she spoke her voice was gentle, but within it she held a warning. The younger lionness was on her pride's territory now and she did not know how the leader would take their being too kind to her. Truthfully though, she was just annoyed at the interuption. "Darling, I can't think of any that I could give you. However, our leader might think differently. It would be wise to seek him out and not linger in his territory without permission."

"sure thing, then." She said. "Now, will you be so kind as to tell me where I may find him, and his name. If you know, that is."

He smiled at Amadi's response. It was so much easier to be like this than to be like the lion he usually was. And the peace and the way they were both acting so nicely to each other made him want to tell her about his problem. He looked away, a little embarassed when she called him 'hun'. Only his mother called him that, and she had stopped a long time ago! But no worries, there was no one else here to here. Then the new lioness showed up. He was glad to have the elder lioness with him- he would have had no idea what to do, really. Horizon never did very well during things like that. They got him worried that he would mess up. He admired the way she handled it so calmly, but also firmly. He watched the other lion's response to the pride lion's suggestion. He was not sure what her tone of voice or choice of words was supposed to mean, but he had a feeling that the last sentence, 'If you know, that is.' was meant to be a bit of insult. But it was just a thought. He could just have been imagining it. He had been taught a lot of things about lions who weren't members of his pride. Most of them weren't good things.

She sat there, after had said that, awaiting the answer. "Do either of you know?" She asked, before giving enough time, noticing that, at first, her question she had first asked was only directed to the other lioness. Surely one of them would be able to answer her.
