Sarge walked slowly toward a small pile of dirt and sat on it. He pricked the soft earth with his claws. Cautiously, he bunched his muscles, and dove into a fat mouse,scratching in the earth. Sarge tumbled over and almost hit a mound of dirt. He expected to be humiliated by a mouse, but found that he had the mouse in his jaws. He gave the rodent a final crunch, then set it down for a moment to take pride in his work. "Very large, almost as big as a mole. Yes... Very nice." He picked up his prey and started to chew proudly.

The crack of bones made Kaya flinch. The tiny leopardess limped along , the smell of prey , dead prey , overwhelming her instincts to be careful. Her blue sapphire eyes settled on a male , eating a huge rat. Her consumed it with much glee , and a small smile crept onto her weary face.

She made herself visible , and lay down , too tired now to walk , and watched with pained eyes as the male ate his fair catch. Her tiny mouth watered. She could not remember the last time she had managed to eat - it must have been long ago. Her ribs , sticking out of her chest , hurt as she breathed. Her whole body ached with immense pain , yet she silenced it , watching th male with curiosity.

Sarge let go of his prey and looked at the little leopardess. He scrunched up his nose as if the after taste of his prey was bitter.
He sighed and pulled a fair piece of meat off the rat, and brought it over to the leopardess. "Hello."

Surprised and startled , she watched him with huge blue eyes as the male , nearly 10 times her size , walked over to her.

' Hello Sir' she said , her tone smooth like running water , yet her words afraid and fearful. She looked up hopefully at the prey , then back at the huge leopard , deciding whether to run like hell or to stay. She was too weak to run , and in any case , he would outrun her. Best to stay and look small.

Sarge smiled, something he hadn't done in a long time. He slid down to the small cheetah's size. "What is your name? I'm Sarge." He put the hunk of meat in between the female's paws. "Here."

Kaya looked up at the huge male in wonder , unable to speak for a second. ' T-t-thankyou Sarge! I am Kaya Sir!' she said , her big blue eyes looking up at him with immense gratitude. She bit into the big , to soft , warm taste of fresh flesh filling her mouth.

She closed her eyes , enjoying every ounce of juice in the meat. ' If this is a dream , I don't want to wake up' her expression read , as she chewed it slowly , a small smile creeping onto her tiny leopard face.
' Thankyou..' she whispered.

"You're welcome." He flicked his tail upwards. "I think there might be a storm soon. The clouds to the east are very dark. " He closed his eyes and re-opened them. "All the birds are flying west." He hovered in the sky for a moment, immitating a large bird.
